The one that holds your posture up, not just your weight

The Ergo 3 is the newest chair in Karma's Ergo line and the only one with the patented Double S-Ergo system — the contoured seat everyone knows, plus a matching backrest with adjustable lumbar inserts.

The one thing it does better: it fights the slump. Most lightweight chairs support the seat and leave the back to a flat sling, so the user gradually slides down and ends up looking at their own knees. The Ergo 3's back inserts adjust and expand to the user's height and weight to hold them upright — Karma's stated aims are a stable posture, a better field of vision, and easier conversation. For anyone sitting in a chair for hours a day, that is the difference that shows.

It manages that without a weight penalty: "Ergo 3 is one of the lightest wheelchairs on the market, with a mass of the heaviest part just 9 kg in its base configuration."

Who it suits

  • Full-time or most-of-the-day users, where posture and pressure matter more than folding size
  • Anyone who slides forward in their current chair or complains of lower back ache
  • Users up to 125kg — more capacity than the Ergo Lite range
  • People who need a crash-tested chair for travelling

Standard features

  • Patented Double S-Ergo seat and backrest system
  • Ergo Lumbar Support — adjustable, expandable back inserts
  • Flip-up armrests and detachable swing-away footrests for side transfers
  • Push & Pull attendant brake system
  • Multi-functional side guards — inner pockets, outer reflective accents
  • All movable parts picked out in high-visibility orange, so carers can see what to grab

Options

Drum brake system; Easy Fit tool-free adjustable legrests; tool-free adjustable footplates; Ergo anti-tippers, pelvic belt, cane holder, oxygen tank holder, IV pole, foldable headrest. Ask us before ordering.

VAT relief

Prices exclude VAT. Karma wheelchairs qualify for VAT relief under HMRC Notice 701/7 where the user is chronically sick or disabled, or a charity buys on their behalf. The declaration is completed at checkout.

Get the fit right

The lumbar inserts only work if the seat width and back height are right for the person. Book a free equipment assessment and we will set it up properly rather than leave you to guess.

A 20" (510mm) seat width is also made — ask us for a price. More in Lightweight Wheelchairs.
